Good Morning Class 5,

You will soon be starting a new school year. A new year is a fantastic opportunity to make new friends, but making friends or rebuilding old friendships can be a nerve-wracking thing. Can you create a poster describing (using words and pictures) how best to make a new friend. Think about how you would like someone to treat you and what you think makes a good friend. These can be completed using whatever medium you would like.

All the best,

Mr Redmond

Good Morning Class 5,

Over the course of the last year, you have all achieved so much. Whether that’s learning your times tables, riding a bike or having the confidence to put their hand up in class and offer an answer. An achievement is something that has been accomplished through great effort, skill, perseverance or courage.

Can you make a mind map of all of your achievements this year? Which achievement are you most proud of? Your challenge is to write about this achievement today. How did you accomplish this? What barriers did you face? Who helped you?

You could record this as a story featuring yourself as the main character, a newspaper report or even write a rap!

All the best,

Mr Redmond

Good Morning Class 5,

On our final week of 'school' we are thinking all about transition. Our project this week has a different focus for each day, today we are focussing on memories. These could be memories from your time in class at the start of the year or memories from your time learning at home. Your activity is to create a piece of art that represents one of or many of those memories. This can be done however you want but here are some ideas;

  • Photo Frame
  • Collage
  • Comic
  • Painting
  • Digital Picture/Art work

I look forward to seeing your fabulous creations.

All the best,

Mr Redmond

So next next Wednesday, please join us (via Zoom) to have a chat with me and to have a catch up with the rest of your class! (Both in and out of school.)

In addition Year 6, if you would like to, you could also wear your school sweatshirt one final time!

We will be emailing out the Zoom link for your class prior to each 'meeting', so please keep an eye on your inboxes!

Class 5 - Home Learning - Friday 10th July

Good Morning Class 5,

In Great Britain, Valentine’s Day, St Patrick’s Day and Bonfire Night are just some of the celebrations that take place. Can you choose one celebration day and research how the celebration came to be?

Using the information you have found, plot the events on a timeline and include dates, details and pictures/sketches.

Now create a poster advertising the celebration day. This could be done on a computer programme of your choice or on paper.

All the best,

Mr Redmond

Good Morning Class 5,

It’s time to plan a celebration event of their choice. This could be a birthday party, an Eid celebration, an Easter hunt or anything else you wish to plan. You have £150 to spend and 25 guests will be attending. What will the money be spent on? Plan the celebration considering the location of the event, how you will decorate the venue, what your guests will eat and drink and how you will entertain their guests. Can you detail the timings of the event and any timings for preparation.

All the best,

Mr Redmond

Good Morning Class 5,

Today your challenge is to create a quiz all about a celebration you take part in, this could be specific to your religion or even your own family traditions. Try to make this quiz multiple choice but don't make the wrong answers too obvious! Then see if your family members can answer your questions correctly! (can you catch them out?)

Mr Redmond

Good Morning Class 5,

I hope you are enjoying our celebration theme this week. Today's spelling task is to make your own celebration themed wordsearch. You could use squared paper to help you complete this (https://www.papersnake.com/squared_paper/). You could also use this online tool to help you make it, then you can print off copies for family members to try (https://thewordsearch.com/maker/).

Good Morning Class 5,

This week our learning project is all about celebrating. Today's writing activity looks very interesting. Can you write a newspaper report from the day you were born? This report could include things like what music was popular (https://www.mybirthdayhits.co.uk/) or world events that happened on your birthday ( https://www.mybirthdayfacts.com/). Try to include an interview or quote with a family member and use this checklist to make sure you have all the features you need (https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/z2yycdm/articles/z2gk9qt) !
