Welcome back to Autumn 2 Class 3!
Here in Class 3, we've had a fantastic first week back! I am super proud of you all for how well you have returned back to school after half term. You have all put in 100% effort and your work has been brilliant, keep it up!
In English, the children have been introduced to our new topic 'The Stone Age' where we have created a WANTED! poster for a stone age man including our adjectives and descriptive language. As it was bonfire night on Thursday, the whole class created a bonfire poem which is now the main focus of our new display. Next week, we will be focusing on our core text 'Stone Age Sentinel'.
Maths has seen Class 3 working extremely hard on mastering addition and subtraction, they have been answering a variety of questions and spotting patterns. This can be a really tricky concept for children to grasp so please keep practicing but also give yourselves a huge round of applause for your work and effort!
ART was most definitely a favourite this week as we ventured outdoors to create a hand print cave painting! Whilst having a lot of fun, the children loved using nature to paint using sticks, mud and leaves to create colours and texture. They discovered what it would be like to be part of the Stone Age and created some fabulous stone age cave art.
In Science, children were introduced to their new topic 'Rocks', learning about the three different types of rocks and meeting our new friends; Iggy, Sid and Matt. We also tried to create a firework in a jar but as science experiments go, it didn't quite work out! I cannot wait for science next week as we are looking at the rock cycle.
Our first week back has also seen the children learning about why different religions celebrate different festivals. I have been so impressed with the mature and sensible reasons children have been offering to support their opinion! Great job Class 3!
