School's out for Half Term!
Well, what a brilliant, fun, crazy last week we've had in Class 3!
Monday saw us all trialing out to become the next Amelia Earheart, seeing who could fly their plane the furthest. Charlie and Logan threw their planes a massive...7.7 metres!! Well done boys!
This week in Maths, we have been consolidating our learning of the column method for addition and subtraction. We have used dominoes to help us create mixed addition and subtraction sums which the children loved. As well as this we used the dominoes to challenge our mental arithmetic skills which saw some brilliant, quick number recall. We have also used playing cards, children selected a card and together we created some addition and subtraction sums working them out clearly in our books. This has clearly shown children's enjoyment for their mathematical learning which has been fantastic to see.
In English, the children have been working incredibly hard on their character descriptions and using 2 adjectives along with descriptive language and features. They produced some wonderful descriptions on their very own character which they created. It has been a tricky time learning coming up with and learning how to use powerful adjectives effectively but we have been extremely pleased and proud of the results!
Sammy was awarded a medal in PE for his sportsmanship, determination and continued effort displayed for the whole of this half term. Very much deserved, well done Sammy!
Finally, in Science, the children have learnt about Isaac Newton's Laws and investigated them. We experimented the forces placed upon different liquids to see which ones caused a reaction. Lots of fun had here and some fantastic scientific predictions, diagrams and knowledge to show for it!
Well done Class 3, you have had a fantastic first half term!
