English and Maths
Hamilton Trust are providing free packs for English and Maths to aid home learning. Each day, we will upload the packs to the school website. They cover a daily input of English and Maths which are in line with the National Curriculum.
Good Morning, today we are going to be using creative and computing skills. This can be done on any computer with drawing or painting software (Paint is free on Windows computers). Begin by reading through this powerpoint ( Download House Digital Art ). Now your task is to create your own dream home or mansion. Remember this should not be done freehand (with the pen or paintbrush tool) but should be done using the line, draw shape and fill tool. Things you might think about including:
- A door
- A chimney
- Brick patterns for the walls.
- Flower planters.
- A roof
Once you have done this, can you write a set of instructions explaining how you made your digital home. Remember to include imperative verbs (bossy) and time conjunctions.
With anxiety over health, social distancing and changes in routine, this is a difficult time for children and adults. Here are some suggestions to help your wellbeing and mental health. This week, the activities focus on mindfulness.
Mindfulness is being aware of what is going on inside and outside ourselves, moment by moment. We can practise mindfulness through meditation, colouring, poses, being in nature and much more. Here are some fun activities to get you going. Look out for mindfulness colouring, crafts, breathing and yoga activities here over the next few days.
Try these different challenges to help you really focus on the present and take your mind off your daily thoughts or worries. How do they make you feel? Try to notice if you feel calmer or more relaxed. Do them every time you feel a bit stressed, annoyed or worried, whether that’s with stress over your home learning, worries over Covid-19 or annoyance with family members. They really will help!

Mindful brain breaks:
If you find it hard to keep working while you’re at home, make sure to take a break every 10 minutes or so. Try these short brain breaks with your sibling(s) or parent(s). They are fun to do and will help your brain to be ready to learn. They aid concentration and take the stress out of lesson time and, done regularly, will turn you into a learning machine!
