Good Morning, today we are going to be looking at two very important houses, these are in the Houses of Parliament; both the House of Commons and the House of Lords are where vital decisions happen in our country and are an important part of our democracy. Start by watching this video.

Now read through the powerpoint about the Houses of Parliament ( Download Parliament Powerpoint). Use what you have learnt to complete this activity ( Download what-is-parliament-activity ), remember you can look back at the powerpoint to help. Once you have completed this, have a look at this activity ( Download what-issues-are-important-to-you-activity ), choose the sheet that challenges you. Remember to use powerful and persuasive language when discussing the issues that are important to you, just like Members of Parliament must.

Wellbeing

With anxiety over health, social distancing and changes in routine, this is a difficult time for children and adults. Here are some suggestions to help your wellbeing and mental health. This week, the activities focus on mindfulness.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is being aware of what is going on inside and outside ourselves, moment by moment. We can practise mindfulness through meditation, colouring, poses, being in nature and much more. Here are some fun activities to get you going. Look out for mindfulness colouring, crafts, breathing and yoga activities here over the next few days.

Mindfulness activities:

If you’ve been completing the mindfulness activities over the last few days, you’ll have begun to feel the positive impact mindfulness can have on how you feel and on your experiences.

To find out more about mindfulness, please click on this link for a PowerPoint ( Download Mindful me an introduction to mindfulness )to teach you more about it and then try these further mindfulness challenges. Why not introduce your family to mindfulness as well!

  Mindfulness and positivity:

Staying positive improves our mood and makes us feel happy. This also boosts our immune system so is a win, win right now! We can choose to be positive and that’s so important at the moment especially!

Adults and children benefit from hearing, reading and saying motivational quotes so try these mindfulness colouring sheets. When you’ve finished colouring them in, repeat the quotes out loud or in your head and see how positive they make you feel! If you’re unsure about what they mean, please do ask the adults you live with, or those you’re in touch with, to explain.

Please click the link below for the mindfulness motivational quotes colouring pages:
